Cold Boiling Lake and Flowing Meadows (Lassen Volcanic National Park)

Meet at the Chase Bank in the Mt. Shasta Mall Parking lot
To escape the heat of the valley, we will head up to much cooler weather in Lassen Volcanic National Park for this joint CNPS/SEA wildflower walk. This four-mile easy to moderate hike with little elevation gain (the only hard part is the altitude) will start in the Kings Creek Picnic area and go 1.4 miles to Cold Boiling Lake and from here we will walk another ½ mile up the wildflower-filled beautiful flowing meadows on the trail to Bumpass Hell. Temperatures will be up to 30 degrees or more cooler than Redding. Trees on much of the trail have burned, but this leaves more room for wildflowers.
Wear boots and bring a hat, water, sunscreen and lunch. We will meet at the Mt. Shasta Mall parking lot near Chase Bank at 8 am and carpool/caravan to Lassen. Please sign up on Meetup.com here For more information, contact David Ledger at david@ecoshasta.org
